Payment Methods for International Patients in Seoul
Quick answer
At most Seoul dermatology clinics, including The Heal in Jamsil, international patients typically pay at the clinic on the day of treatment, usually by card or in Korean won cash. Accepted card brands and other options can change, so please confirm with our team before you travel. Fees are always explained before treatment. Message us on KakaoTalk to confirm payment details before you fly.

How payment usually works
Payment is made at the clinic after your consultation, once you have agreed to a treatment plan and its fees. Nothing is charged for treatment you have not agreed to. For multi-session plans, our team explains whether sessions are paid individually or together, and what happens if your plans change. Ask for an itemized receipt, which is useful for your records and for any later questions.
Because payment arrangements can change, please confirm the current options with us by KakaoTalk or email before your trip.
Cards and cash: practical tips
- Cards: major international cards are widely used in Seoul, but acceptance of specific brands varies, so check with us in advance.
- Currency: if a card terminal offers to charge in your home currency, choosing Korean won usually avoids extra conversion fees from your bank.
- Cash: Korean won is the simplest cash option. Global ATMs are common in Jamsil, including in nearby shopping centers.
- Bank alerts: tell your bank you are traveling so a larger payment is not blocked.
Book first, pay at your visit: the four steps
- Message us on KakaoTalk or email with your concerns, photos and travel dates.
- Receive a suggested plan and timing for your trip.

Insurance, refunds and receipts
Cosmetic treatments are generally not covered by travel insurance or Korean National Health Insurance for tourists. For medical dermatology, such as an infected cyst or a suspicious mole, ask us for documents you might need for a claim with your own insurer. Information about VAT refunds for cosmetic procedures has changed recently; see our tax refund guide for the current status. For how fees are structured, read the treatment costs guide .
Common questions before you commit
- Will I be charged without agreeing? No. Fees are explained and confirmed before treatment.
- Language: payment details are explained in English.
- Safety: your plan is set by a board-certified dermatologist, not by a sales package.
- Follow-up: questions after you return home can be sent on KakaoTalk.
If you want certainty before booking flights, ask us about payment options when you send your photos.

Frequently asked
Payment Methods: your questions answered
Can I pay with a foreign credit card?
International cards are commonly used in Seoul, but accepted brands can vary. Please confirm with us before your visit so you know exactly what to bring.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Booking and deposit policies can change. Ask us when you book and we will explain how your appointment is confirmed and what happens if plans change.
Should I pay in Korean won or my home currency?
Paying in Korean won is usually better. If the terminal offers your home currency, the conversion rate is often less favorable than your bank's own rate.
Can I get a receipt for my records?
Yes. Ask for an itemized receipt at payment. It is useful for your records and for any insurance or follow-up questions later.
