What is Thermage FLX?

Thermage FLX is the fourth generation of Solta Medical's Thermage system. It delivers monopolar radiofrequency (RF) energy through a treatment tip that heats a large volume of tissue in the dermis and the fibrous layers beneath it, while a cooling spray protects the surface. The heat causes existing collagen to contract and then stimulates new collagen production over the following months.

The FLX platform uses an algorithm that adjusts energy delivery pulse by pulse based on tissue feedback, helping to keep treatment more consistent across the face. It is FDA-cleared for the non-invasive treatment of wrinkles and rhytids.

What does Thermage tighten best?

Because RF heats broadly rather than at a focused point, Thermage FLX is especially good at improving the quality and firmness of the skin itself. Common goals include:

Who is a good candidate?

Thermage FLX suits adults with mild to moderate skin laxity, crepey texture or early jowling, typically from the 30s onwards. It is a good option for those who want gradual, natural improvement with little downtime. It is not a replacement for surgery when sagging is severe.

Treatment is generally avoided during pregnancy, over active skin infection, and in people with implanted electronic devices such as pacemakers. Tell the doctor about any metal implants, fillers or threads in the treatment area so the plan can be adjusted. Comfort, recovery and results

Each pulse brings a brief deep heat followed by cooling and vibration. Topical numbing and energy adjustments keep the treatment tolerable. Afterwards, mild redness or swelling usually settles within hours to a day, and most people return to normal activities, including flying, the next day. Use gentle skincare and sunscreen for a few days.

    It depends on the area and your skin. A full face commonly uses a few hundred pulses, and adding the neck or eyes increases this. The doctor recommends a number after examining your skin rather than offering a fixed package.
