Sofwave in Seoul: Ultrasound Lifting for Fine Lines & Brows
Quick answer
Sofwave is an ultrasound treatment that uses SUPERB technology, a set of parallel ultrasound beams focused in the mid-dermis at about 1.5 mm, to stimulate collagen, soften fine lines and gently lift the brows and neck. At The Heal in Jamsil, Seoul, sessions are relatively short and comfortable, with no downtime. Results develop over about three months.

What is Sofwave?
Sofwave is an energy-based device that uses Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam technology, known as SUPERB. Instead of a single focal point, it delivers several parallel ultrasound beams that heat a precise zone in the mid-dermis, about 1.5 mm below the surface, where collagen and elastin fibers sit. A built-in cooling system protects the outer skin.
The controlled heat triggers collagen remodeling, gradually improving fine lines and firmness. Sofwave has received FDA clearance for improving facial lines and wrinkles and for lifting the eyebrow and the submental and neck tissue. The parallel-beam design spreads heat over a wider area in each pulse, which helps keep sessions efficient.
What can Sofwave treat?
- Fine lines and wrinkles across the forehead, cheeks and around the mouth
- Lowered brows that make the eyes look heavier
- Neck and under-chin laxity in mild to moderate cases
- Overall firmness and texture for skin that has started to soften
Because it works in the mid-dermis rather than the deeper SMAS, Sofwave is ideal for skin quality and fine lines. When deeper sagging is the priority, Ultherapy Prime may be added. Compare the two in Sofwave vs Ultherapy . The doctor assesses which layer is responsible for your concern before choosing the device.
Comfort and session length
Sofwave is often chosen by patients who want effective tightening with a shorter, more comfortable session. The integrated cooling helps protect the surface and improve comfort, and a full face can usually be treated in under an hour. You may feel brief pulses of warmth, and numbing cream is applied beforehand.
There is no wound and usually no visible downtime beyond mild redness that fades quickly. Many visitors to Seoul fit Sofwave in before sightseeing or a flight. It can also be part of a Design Lift plan alongside other devices.
Who is a good candidate?
Sofwave suits adults with fine lines, early laxity, a drooping brow or mild neck looseness, including people in their late 20s and 30s looking for prevention. It is less suitable as a single treatment for heavy jowls or marked sagging, where deeper lifting or surgery may be needed.
Treatment is generally postponed during pregnancy, over active skin infection or open wounds, and over certain implants in the treatment zone. Tell the doctor about recent fillers or threads in the area. Results vary between individuals. A consultation confirms whether Sofwave alone is likely to meet your goals.
Results and maintenance
Some patients notice a subtle firming soon after treatment, but the main improvement develops over about 12 weeks as new collagen forms. Fine lines soften, brows may sit slightly higher and the skin looks smoother. One session is often enough, though some people benefit from a second. Protect your skin from the sun to help maintain results.
Collagen continues to age, so many patients repeat treatment about once a year. If you are planning a trip, see our lifting treatment trip guide, or ask if Sofwave suits your skin .
The Heal approach
We use Sofwave where skin quality and fine lines matter most, and pair it with deeper lifting only when your laxity truly calls for it.

Frequently asked
Sofwave: your questions answered
Does Sofwave hurt?
Most patients describe brief pulses of heat that are tolerable with numbing cream and the device's built-in cooling. Sessions are relatively short, which many people find easier than longer lifting treatments.
Is Sofwave better than Ultherapy?
Neither is better for everyone. Sofwave targets the mid-dermis for fine lines and skin quality, while Ultherapy reaches the deeper SMAS layer for lifting. The doctor may recommend one or combine both.
Can I wear makeup after Sofwave?
Usually yes, the same day or the next morning, as there is no wound. Use gentle skincare and sunscreen, and avoid harsh exfoliants for a few days.
How long do Sofwave results last?
Results commonly last around a year, depending on age, skin quality and lifestyle. Many patients schedule a yearly maintenance session. Sun protection and good skincare help maintain the improvement.
