Ultherapy + Thermage Combination in Seoul: Lift and Tighten
Quick answer
Combining Ultherapy and Thermage means treating two depths in one plan: micro-focused ultrasound lifts the deep SMAS support layer, while radiofrequency tightens and smooths the skin surface. At The Heal in Jamsil, Seoul, both can often be done on the same day for visitors with limited time. Results build over two to three months, and outcomes vary.

Why combine Ultherapy and Thermage?
Many visitors ask whether they should choose one lifting device or two. Facial ageing happens in layers. The deep support layer (SMAS) loosens and lets the jowls and cheeks descend, while the dermis thins and loses elasticity, causing crepey texture and fine lines. Ultherapy Prime uses focused ultrasound to reach the deeper structures, and Thermage FLX uses monopolar radiofrequency to heat the dermis broadly. Used together, they address both the sag and the skin itself. This is not about doing more for its own sake; it is about matching each energy to the layer that needs it.
Who is this combination for?
The combination often suits people in their late 30s to 60s who have both visible lower-face sagging and loss of skin firmness, such as early jowls together with crepey cheeks or neck. It is also popular with international patients who want a comprehensive result from one visit. It may be unnecessary if your concern is mild, in which case a single device can be enough. We do not treat during pregnancy, over active infection, or in people with pacemakers or certain implants near the area. Our Ultherapy vs Thermage guide explains how each works alone.
Treatment order and same-day planning
When both are done on the same day, the plan is designed so the total energy is safe and comfortable. A common approach is to perform Ultherapy first to address the deep layer, followed by Thermage to tighten the surface, but the order and shot distribution are tailored to each face. Areas with thinner skin or more sensitivity may receive adjusted settings. Dr. Yang maps the jawline, cheeks, under-chin and, when needed, the neck and eye area. If you prefer, the treatments can also be split across two days during your stay.
Recovery and aftercare
Expect redness, mild swelling or tenderness along the jawline for a few hours to several days; some people notice temporary numbness or small bruises. There is no peeling or open wound, so most patients go back to normal activities the next day. Use gentle skincare and daily sunscreen, sleep slightly elevated the first night if you notice swelling, and avoid saunas, alcohol and intense exercise for about 48 hours. Flying home the following day is usually fine; see our flying after treatment guide .
How long do combined results last?
Some firmness is felt early, but most visible change develops over two to three months as collagen remodels. Many patients maintain the result with a yearly session of one or both treatments, depending on age and skin quality. Results are never permanent, because ageing continues, and individual outcomes vary. Your skin's response depends on factors such as age, sun exposure, smoking, weight changes and how much collagen your skin still produces. Daily sunscreen and a consistent skincare routine help protect the investment. We are happy to review progress photos sent from home, and to discuss whether your next session should repeat the combination or focus on just one device.
The Heal approach
We decide the energy for each layer separately, so the combination is precise rather than simply doubled.

Frequently asked
Ultherapy + Thermage Combination: your questions answered
Is it safe to do Ultherapy and Thermage on the same day?
In suitable candidates, yes. They work at different depths, and the plan is adjusted so the overall heat is appropriate. Dr. Yang will advise splitting the sessions if your skin or comfort needs it.
Does the combination hurt more?
The treatment takes longer, so there are more sensations of heat and pressure. We use topical numbing, cooling and energy adjustments, and you can ask for breaks at any point.
Can I add Botox or skin boosters?
Often yes. Injectables such as Botox or skin boosters are usually performed after energy treatments, or on a separate day, so that heat does not disturb the freshly placed product.
Is the combination right for people in their 30s?
Sometimes, if there is early laxity. Many younger patients do well with a lighter plan using one device, so we recommend a combination only when it adds clear value. Prevention-focused plans are usually lighter.
