Neck Lines Treatment in Seoul: Softening Tech-Neck Creases
Quick answer
Horizontal neck lines soften best when skin quality inside the crease and the surrounding firmness are both improved, typically with skin boosters, micro-dosed skin Botox and energy-based tightening. At The Heal in Jamsil, Seoul, a board-certified dermatologist matches the plan to line depth. Several sessions are usual, small bumps fade within days, and results vary. Message us on KakaoTalk with your travel dates to plan sessions.

What causes horizontal neck lines?
Neck lines, sometimes called necklace lines or tech-neck, are the horizontal rings that run across the front of the neck. Some people have them from their 20s, because the skin naturally folds where the neck bends. They become deeper and more permanent with:
- Repeated bending: looking down at phones and laptops creases the same lines thousands of times.
- Thin, dry skin: the neck has fewer oil glands and less dermal thickness than the face.
- Sun damage: UV breaks down collagen in an area often missed by sunscreen.
- Volume and elasticity loss: with age, lines stop smoothing out when the head is lifted.
How a dermatologist assesses neck lines
Dr. Yang checks whether the lines disappear when you lift your chin or remain etched at rest. Etched lines usually need treatment inside the crease itself, while dynamic lines respond better to firming the overall skin. She also checks for loose skin, vertical muscle bands and pigment changes, because these often appear alongside horizontal lines and may change the plan. Skin thickness matters too: very thin neck skin needs gentler techniques and products chosen to avoid visible lumps. Photos with the chin level and raised document the baseline. Previous treatments and current skincare are reviewed as well.
Treatment options at The Heal, ranked by suitability
- Skin boosters into the lines: Rejuran Healer or Juvelook improve thickness and texture inside the crease.
- Skin Botox: micro Botox placed superficially can soften fine creasing and smooth the surface.
- Tightening: Thermage FLX or Sofwave firm the neck skin overall.
- Texture devices: carefully set RF microneedling may help selected etched lines.
Combining boosters with tightening tends to give smoother results than either alone. Sessions are usually spaced two to four weeks apart, and the plan is adjusted after each visit depending on how the lines respond. Mild redness after each session is common.
Home care to slow new creases
Hold your phone at eye level and raise your laptop screen, which reduces repetitive folding. Use a supportive pillow that keeps the neck from bending sharply during sleep. Apply sunscreen to the neck daily and moisturize morning and night, since dry skin shows lines more clearly. A gentle retinoid or peptide product used a few nights a week can improve texture gradually. These habits help prevent new lines and support treatment results, but they rarely remove deep, established creases alone. Consistency over months matters more than any single product. Gentle cleansing also protects this delicate area.
When to see a doctor
Book a visit when neck lines stay visible with your chin raised, when makeup or jewelry draws attention to them, or when they look older than the rest of your skin. Any new lump, swelling or thyroid symptoms such as unexplained weight change or difficulty swallowing need medical evaluation first. Injections and devices are postponed during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, and with active infection or eczema flares on the neck. See aftercare while traveling if you are visiting from abroad. Since boosters leave only small bumps that fade in a few days, sessions fit easily around flights; book a consultation and Dr. Yang will space them around your travel dates. Bring photos showing how the lines have changed.
The Heal approach
We treat inside the crease and around it, pairing boosters for skin quality with tightening for support so neck lines soften evenly.

Frequently asked
Neck Lines: your questions answered
Can filler be used for neck lines?
Very soft hyaluronic acid products are sometimes used in small amounts, but neck skin is thin and lumps can show easily. Skin boosters are often preferred because they improve quality with less risk of visible product.
Will the bumps from neck boosters go away?
Yes. Small raised bumps at the injection points are expected and usually settle within one to three days. A scarf or high collar can cover them if needed. Avoid massaging the area for a day or two.
How many sessions are needed for neck lines?
Most patients need two to four booster sessions spaced a few weeks apart, sometimes with a tightening treatment. Deep, long-standing lines may improve more slowly, and results vary. Maintenance sessions help keep the improvement.
Are neck lines a sign of aging only?
Not always. Many younger people have neck lines because of skin folding patterns and posture. Treatment can still help, and preventive habits are especially effective at a younger age. Daily sunscreen on the neck also matters at every age.
