Jaw Botox in Seoul: Masseter Slimming and Clenching Relief

Quick answer

Jaw Botox is a botulinum toxin injection into the masseter muscle that gradually slims a square lower face and can ease teeth clenching. At The Heal in Jamsil, Seoul, a dermatologist checks muscle size before dosing. Slimming usually shows in four to six weeks and lasts about four to six months. It takes about 15 minutes, so it fits into a Seoul trip; send a front photo to start.

What is jaw Botox?

The masseter is the strong chewing muscle at the back of the jaw. When it is large, through genetics, clenching or chewing habits, it widens the lower face and gives a square outline. Injecting small amounts of botulinum toxin relaxes the muscle; with less use it gradually becomes smaller, softening the jaw angle into a slimmer, more tapered shape often described in Korea as a V-line. The same treatment can reduce the force of night-time clenching or grinding, which some patients notice as less jaw tension in the morning.

Who is a good candidate?

The best candidates have a visibly bulky masseter that hardens when they clench, a square lower face, or symptoms of bruxism such as jaw fatigue. During assessment, Dr. Yang feels the muscle while you bite, checks symmetry and looks at whether width comes from muscle, fat or bone. If width is mainly from fat, Onda may be more helpful; if bone structure is the main factor, toxin will make less difference. Botox is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding or with certain neuromuscular conditions.

Results timeline

Clenching relief may be felt within one to two weeks. Visible slimming takes longer because the muscle must shrink: most people notice change at around four to six weeks, with the fullest effect near two to three months. Results typically last about four to six months before the muscle gradually regains bulk. With repeated treatments, some patients find the interval lengthens. Our FAQ explains when jaw Botox results appear in more detail. Outcomes vary between people. Photos taken at home every two weeks make the gradual change easier to see.

Combining jaw Botox with lifting

In younger patients, jaw Botox alone often gives a clear slimming effect. From the mid-30s, reducing muscle bulk without addressing laxity can sometimes reveal mild sagging, so we may pair it with jawline lifting such as Ultherapy to keep the contour firm. Energy treatments are usually done first on the same day. This combination is a common choice for visitors who want a defined, narrower lower face within one trip. Some patients also add chin filler to balance the profile once the jaw has narrowed. Dr. Yang will explain whether you need one step or several, and will avoid adding treatments that do not change your contour.

Side effects and aftercare

Expect small injection marks and, rarely, minor bruising. Some people notice temporary chewing fatigue with very tough foods during the first weeks. Uneven smiles or excessive hollowing are uncommon when dosing and placement are precise. Avoid massaging the jaw or having facial treatments on the area for the first day. No downtime means you can return to sightseeing immediately and fly the next day. To check suitability before booking, send us a front-facing photo . Results vary between individuals.

The Heal approach

We palpate the masseter during clenching and dose each side separately, because few faces are perfectly symmetrical.

Frequently asked

Jaw Botox (Masseter): your questions answered

  • When will I see jaw slimming?

Most people see visible slimming at around four to six weeks, with the full effect at two to three months. Clenching relief often comes sooner, within one to two weeks.

  • Does jaw Botox affect chewing?

Normal eating is not affected. Some people notice mild fatigue when chewing very tough or chewy foods in the first few weeks, which settles as they adapt.

  • How often should I repeat jaw Botox?

Typically every four to six months. After several sessions, many people can space treatments further apart while maintaining a slimmer contour. We will suggest timing at your follow-up.

  • Can jaw Botox help with teeth grinding?

It can reduce the force of clenching and grinding and ease jaw tension. It does not replace a dental assessment, so we recommend seeing a dentist for ongoing bruxism. Results vary between individuals.
