Botox in Seoul: Natural Wrinkle Relaxing by a Dermatologist

Quick answer

Botox is a botulinum toxin injection that relaxes the muscles behind expression lines such as forehead lines, frown lines and crow's feet. At The Heal in Jamsil, Seoul, a board-certified dermatologist doses each area for a natural, still-expressive look. Effects peak around two weeks and usually last three to four months. Message us your travel dates to fit it into a short stay.

How does Botox work?

Botulinum toxin type A temporarily blocks the nerve signal that tells a muscle to contract. When the muscles that crease the forehead, brow or outer eye relax, the overlying skin smooths out and new lines are less likely to deepen. The effect is gradual and reversible: as nerve endings regenerate over several months, movement returns. Used in small, precise doses, it softens expression lines without freezing the face. It does not fill hollows or lift sagging skin, which is why it is often paired with other treatments. Doses are measured in units and adjusted to the strength of each muscle.

Common treatment areas

  • Forehead lines: horizontal lines from raising the brows; see forehead lines .
  • Frown lines: the vertical “11s” between the brows; see frown lines .
  • Crow's feet: fan-shaped lines at the outer eyes.
  • Jaw (masseter): slimming a square jaw; see jaw Botox .
  • Skin and neck: fine intradermal dosing; see skin Botox .

Other areas, such as a gummy smile or chin dimpling, may be discussed in consultation. Each area is assessed with your face both at rest and in motion, so the dose matches how strongly you use that muscle. Many people treat two or three areas together, for example forehead, frown and crow's feet, for a balanced upper face.

Brands available in Korea

Korea has several approved botulinum toxin products, including both imported brands and Korean-made toxins. They share the same active ingredient type but differ in formulation and units, so doses are not directly interchangeable. Dr. Yang will tell you which product is being used and why. If you have had treatment abroad, bring the brand name and dose if you know them, as this helps us plan a consistent result and avoid overtreatment. We use only products approved for use in Korea, opened and prepared for your appointment. If you have experienced reduced effect from toxin in the past, let us know, as product choice may matter.

Who should avoid Botox?

Botox is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for people with certain neuromuscular disorders such as myasthenia gravis, or over skin infection at the injection site. Tell us about blood-thinning medication or supplements, which raise the chance of small bruises, and about any upcoming dental work or facial procedures. Allergies to previous toxin products should also be disclosed. These checks are part of every consultation, so treatment is both safe and appropriate. If you are unsure whether something applies to you, simply ask during your consultation.

Treatment day, aftercare and travel

Treatment takes minutes with fine needles; most people describe brief pinches. Small bumps disappear within about 20 minutes and tiny bruises are uncommon. Stay upright for four hours, avoid rubbing the area, and skip saunas and strenuous exercise for the rest of the day. There is no downtime, so you can sightsee or fly the next day. Because full results take up to two weeks, we offer photo review by message once you are home. To plan treatment within your trip, request an appointment .

Frequently asked

Botox (Botulinum Toxin): your questions answered

  • How long does Botox last?

Most people enjoy results for about three to four months. Frequent treatment over time can sometimes extend the interval, but metabolism, muscle strength and dose all affect duration. Your plan will include a suggested interval.

  • Will Botox make my face look frozen?

Not when dosed carefully. Our aim is softened lines with natural movement. If you prefer a lighter result, tell us and we will adjust the dose accordingly. Many first-time patients start conservatively.

  • Can I fly right after Botox?

Yes. There is no medical reason to delay flying after Botox. Just avoid pressing on treated areas, such as with a tight eye mask, for the first few hours. Stay upright for a few hours afterward.

  • Can I combine Botox with lifting or fillers?

Yes. Botox relaxes muscle lines, while lifting and fillers address sagging and volume. They are commonly done in the same visit, usually with energy treatments first. Dr. Yang will suggest the order and timing.

  • When can I wear makeup after Botox?

You can usually apply makeup a few hours after treatment. Use clean brushes and a gentle touch, and avoid massaging the treated area on the first day. Mineral makeup is a gentle option.
