How Vbeam Perfecta works

Vbeam Perfecta, made by Candela, emits yellow light at 595 nm. This wavelength is strongly absorbed by oxyhemoglobin in blood vessels, so energy heats and gradually closes off small, dilated vessels while sparing surrounding skin. Over the following weeks, the body clears the treated vessels and redness fades.

The device has a built-in cooling system that sprays a cryogen mist just before each pulse, protecting the skin surface and improving comfort. Pulse duration can be adjusted: shorter pulses act more strongly and may bruise, while longer, stacked pulses usually avoid bruising but may need more sessions.

Who is a good candidate?

Vbeam suits adults with visible redness or capillaries on the face, including sensitive and rosacea-prone skin. It works best on lighter to medium skin tones; darker skin can be treated with more caution.

Treatment is postponed with a recent tan, active infection or cold sores, and is generally avoided during pregnancy. Tell the doctor about photosensitizing or blood-thinning medication and any history of keloids. Because redness can have several causes, a proper diagnosis comes first; for example, rosacea may also need medical treatment and trigger management. Results vary between individuals. A short test area can be done if there is any doubt.

Bruising, downtime and aftercare

After treatment, mild redness and swelling are normal for a day or two. With stronger, purpura-level settings, purple bruise-like marks can appear and fade over about five to ten days; with non-purpuric settings, most people have no visible bruising. The doctor will explain the trade-off before you choose.

Planning Vbeam around your trip

For international visitors, the main question is bruising. If you have photos, meetings or a wedding soon, we use settings designed to avoid purpura and accept that more sessions may be needed. If you have a week or more in Seoul, a stronger session can give faster improvement while bruising fades before you leave.

Flying is fine after Vbeam. Most patients need two to five sessions about three to six weeks apart, which can be spread across visits. To decide the right approach, send us your dates and a photo taken in natural light.

  • Does Vbeam hurt?

    Most people describe it as a light snap with a cold spray. The built-in cooling makes it tolerable without numbing for most areas. Mild warmth can last for an hour or so afterward.

  • How many Vbeam sessions do I need?

    Many people need two to five sessions, spaced three to six weeks apart. Broken capillaries may respond quickly, while diffuse redness or rosacea often needs a series and maintenance.

  • Will Vbeam make my redness go away permanently?
