Day-by-day recovery
- Day 1–2: redness, warmth and swelling, similar to a sunburn.
- Day 2–5: tiny dots form and skin feels rough and tight; keep it moisturized and don't pick.
- Day 5–7: crusts flake off, revealing pink new skin.
- Weeks 2–4: pinkness gradually fades; collagen remodeling continues for months.

What affects how long downtime lasts?
Downtime depends on energy, density and depth. A light resurfacing pass for texture heals faster than a deep treatment for acne scars . Thicker skin areas, your age and how carefully you follow aftercare also matter. At The Heal we use both Upulse and Enpulse ultra-pulse CO2 and choose settings to balance results and recovery.
If you need minimal downtime, RF microneedling like Potenza may be an alternative.
Aftercare during recovery
- Gentle cleansing with lukewarm water
- Plenty of the recommended moisturizer or ointment
- No scrubs, acids, retinoids or picking for about a week
- Makeup only after crusts have shed, usually around day 5 to 7
- Avoid saunas, swimming and heavy sweating until healed

Planning CO2 laser around travel
We recommend having CO2 laser early in your Seoul stay so the main healing happens before you fly. Flying itself is not dangerous, but cabin air is dry and you will need to keep moisturizing. A check-up visit before departure is ideal.

If you work from home, usually yes. Most people prefer not to be seen in person for about 5 to 7 days.
Is CO2 laser painful?
We use numbing cream; most people feel heat and prickling. Skin feels like a sunburn for a day or two afterward.
Will CO2 laser darken my skin?
Temporary darkening can happen, especially in darker or tanned skin. Careful settings and sun protection reduce the risk.
