Chin and Profile Filler in Seoul: Balance Without Surgery

Quick answer

Chin filler uses a firm hyaluronic acid gel to add projection or length to the chin, improving the balance between nose, lips and jaw in profile. It is a quick, non-surgical alternative to a chin implant, with results visible immediately. At The Heal in Jamsil, Seoul, a dermatologist plans the shape around your whole face. Send front and side photos and we will tell you whether it suits you.

Why the chin matters for facial balance

The chin anchors the lower face. A short or recessed chin can make the nose look larger, the lips more prominent and the jawline less defined, and it can blur the line between jaw and neck. Adding a little projection often improves the whole profile more than treating the nose or lips. In Korea, a softly tapered, slightly forward chin is also a key part of the V-line look. Chin filler can be used to lengthen, project or refine the chin, and in some cases to smooth a dimpled or uneven chin surface.

Who is a good candidate?

Chin filler suits adults with mild to moderate chin retrusion, a short lower face, or a chin that looks flat from the side. It is a popular first step for people considering a chin implant who want to see the effect without surgery. It is less suitable when the bite is significantly misaligned, which may need orthodontic or surgical opinion. We avoid filler during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with active infection or acne at the site, and with known allergies to filler components. Tell us about previous chin fillers, threads or implants.

How chin filler is planned and performed

Dr. Yang assesses your face from the front and in profile, looking at the relationship between nose, lips and chin, and at chin width so the result does not look too pointed. A firmer HA product is used because it holds shape and supports the tissue. Numbing cream is applied and the filler contains lidocaine; placement is deep, often on the bone. The procedure usually takes 20 to 30 minutes and results are visible immediately, settling over one to two weeks. Chin filler pairs well with jaw Botox for a softer V-line.

Recovery and travel

Mild swelling, tenderness and occasional bruising usually settle within a day or two. Avoid pressing on the chin, sleeping face-down, alcohol, saunas and strenuous exercise for about 48 hours. Most people return to sightseeing the same day and can fly within a day or two. As with all fillers, rare complications such as vascular compromise require immediate care, which is why we monitor you before you leave. If you are planning around flights, book an English consultation early in your stay so there is time for a check if needed.

How long results last and what next

Because the chin moves relatively little, firm HA fillers there often last around 12 to 18 months. Maintenance usually needs less product. If you later decide you want a permanent change, filler gives you a realistic preview before surgery. Combining chin filler with lifting for the jawline, see jawline lifting , often creates a crisper lower face than either alone. Read more about HA safety in are fillers safe? Results vary between individuals. Many patients find a small change in the chin makes the most difference to how their face looks in photos.

The Heal approach

We plan the chin in profile and from the front, so it balances your nose and lips without becoming narrow or pointed.

Frequently asked

Chin & Profile Filler: your questions answered

  • Can chin filler replace a chin implant?

For mild to moderate retrusion, chin filler can give a similar visual improvement without surgery. For large changes, an implant or surgery may be more appropriate, and we will explain the difference honestly.

  • Will chin filler make my face look longer?

Only if lengthening is planned. Filler can add projection forward without adding much length, or both, depending on your proportions and what suits your face. We will show you the plan before treatment.

  • Does chin filler hurt?

Most people feel pressure and mild discomfort. Numbing cream and lidocaine in the filler keep it comfortable, and the procedure is quick. Ice afterward eases tenderness.

  • Can chin filler be reversed?

Yes. Hyaluronic acid chin filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if needed, which makes it a lower-commitment option than surgery. It also allows gradual adjustments over time.
